Murderous Ebb: inside the studio

Here i am creating a template for how I will present select previous and future paintings.

I will NOT be interpreting what a viewer should see, feel, or think. I will also not discuss what I was feeling or hoping for while creating the piece. Unless I explicitly have a narrative I want to share, this is not "story time," nor is it an audio description option for the studio. I want to to tell the stories I feel, but viewers deserve my trust and respect for their pov.

However, I plan to add relevant process and technique details, because I am learning, too. I want to discuss how I create color, use a medium, or choose a type of application. Both successes and failures.

Without further ado, I introduce 48” x 60” oil on canvas “Murderous Ebb.”

Title: The name is directly connected to the music I listened to in the studio while painting—a combination of the track name and the band title. See below.

Brushes: A four-inch deck staining brush with natural bristles, and a 2.5-inch house paint brush for the accent color.

Palette: A custom-made black mixed from phthalo blue and burnt sienna, along with an orange-red I had lying around.

Process: Five feet of canvas leaning against the wall on a drop cloth. I sat on the floor in front of it with all edges within reach of my six-foot wingspan.
